Install brushes
In this tutorial, we are going to know how to install Photoshop brushes into Adobe Photoshop CS5,CS4,CS3,CS2,and PS7. Photoshop comes with only a few basic set of brushes, but u can download a wide variety of specialty Photoshop brushes available at Designersbrush or on internet.
In this tutorial i am going to download Flower Brush CS4 from my website designersbrush.com and later on i will show u how we can install it inside Photoshop. OK, lets get started…
Installing Photoshop brushes Step One-
Download brushes for Photoshop
First we need to download Photoshop brushes, In this tutorial i am going to download Flower Brush CS4 from my website designersbrush.com, I have written a tutorial on How to download brushes for Photoshop?
Installing photoshop brushes Step Two-
Move .abr file to your Photoshop installation folder
We have already get hands on .abr file which we have downloaded and extracted, now we can Copy the .abr file from dextop and will move it to Photoshop installation directory folder. This steps is very important-
If you’re a Windows user, it will typically be like these depends on what Photoshop version You are using.
- C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS5\Presets\Brushes
If you’re a Mac user, it will like these depends on what Photoshop version You are using.
- Applications > Adobe Photoshop CS5 > Presets >Brushes
In my case it is Photoshop CS5 and i am using Windows 7 . You can see below screen shot showing after i place .abr file of Flower Brush CS4
If your Photoshop is open you can first close it and restart Photoshop, when u next time open Photoshop your newly custom brush already installed.
Installing photoshop brushes Step Three -
Now open Your Photoshop and click on the brush icon in the tools palette to activate the brush tool. After that go to the tool bar and click triangle to open the Brush Presets Picker. You can see screen shot below-
Installing Photoshop brushes Step Four -
In the Presets Picker, click the triangle on the right upper corner. Photoshop will display the name of the brush set in the list along with new brush Flower Brush CS4 which we have just install in Photoshop folder.
Installing photoshop brushes Step Five -
When u click on brush list in this case flower_brush_cs4 . You will get option to append it or replace it with current brushes. If u choose append option it will get added in Brush palette along with old existing brushes, see picture below. Now You are ready to use brushes just select it from the left Brush palette and start using it for your artwork.
In case u just want your new brushes in Brush palette in left side you can choose option OK, in option displayed. Which will replace all brushes in Brush palette with your new set of brushes in this case Flower Brush CS4 see screen shot below.
Now You are ready to use your new Photoshop brushes.
